About Amy Hess

Amy Hess is the Creator, Producer, Writer and Host of The Local Traveler™.  She is a professional actress who studied in Los Angeles at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, a renowned acting Conservatory, and The Groundlings, a premiere Improvisation and Comedy School. She also trained in scene study with accomplished acting instructor Janet Alhanti, who lists Sydney Poitier, Toby Maguire and Diane Lane as clients. She was regularly coached by Ernie Lively who also helped shape the careers of Brittany Murphy and Blake Lively.

Her career began with several television guest-starring spots on hit shows such as Beverly Hills 90210, In the Heat of the Night, USA High and The Wayans Bros. She also worked behind the scenes for agents, managers, photographers, and casting directors. Amy also worked as a research assistant and in various areas of production at Paramount Pictures for The Leeza Gibbons Show. 

Amy worked in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles for 13 years before deciding to relocate her family back to her home state of Kentucky.  Since being back in the Bluegrass State,
she has won several awards and accolades.  She counts 16 Regional Emmy nominations, 5 Regional Emmy Awards, 1 Telly award, 1 Creative Summit Award, Media Person of the Year from the KDAR, and 2 Addy Awards, among her top honors.
